We are making haste slowly! The final date
for completion for the multi use games area that is planned for Raglan, which
has been extended many times, is now October 2007. The association has agreed
to collaborate in principle with the school in the building of their proposed
village hall. This project has also been stalled and is now planned for a start
date of 2010. It should be well worth the wait to have a hall that will cater
for Raglan and the wider community.
Fund raising is ongoing with a
carboot sale planned in collaboration with Raglan in Bloom and the scouts for
Sunday 13th May at 2.00p.m. on the sports field.
Raglan should sparkle even more than
usual this year with entries in to the ‘Calor,
‘Village of the Year’, ‘Raglan in Bloom ‘, ‘Britain in Bloom’ and the ‘Best
Kept Village in Gwent’.
One regular activity held in the
community centre is the Bingo held every Wednesday evening at 8.00pm. This has
been running for 38 years!
Another date for your diary is the
now established ‘Raglan Day’. To accommodate our friends in Usk, the date has
been moved to Saturday 1st September, when we shall have the
familiar mix of sport, games, stalls talks and music. More details in the next
news diary.
Watch out also for a film night in
the autumn. Details again in the next news diary.
When in the village, also watch out
for the ‘Spare a Penny’ collecting boxes organized by Raglan W.I. for the
village hall.
