Matters Arising.

Raglan Conservation Group Following a lively discussion and the disclosure that the group are now working towards the conservation of village life, to keep Raglan as a village rather than a town, not all development is rejected and that they are now working with the Community Council, some of the concerns of the Association have been allayed. .Amanda Vaughan is the secretary of the Conservation group and Dillwyn Watkins is the chairman.

Progress Reports

M.U.G.A. A report has been received from the Ombudsman dismissing the Associations claims against the council. However, the monies for the project will still be available until 2008.

After meeting with Mike Moran and Andy Keap it was disclosed that the £55000 was still available and the council are applying for a top up grant of £15000 from the Sports Council of Wales.

The plans had missed the last planning committee, but the Association were assured that they would be at the planning meeting on the 19th November.

Plans for the all weather play area to be a joint venture, giving ownership and management to the council to avoid maintenance and insurance expenses and to expedite any grants that may be applied for in the future, are to looked at by a sub-committee. The school would have use of the all weather play area during school times.

The suggested committee would be Dennis Brown, Trevor Phillips, Amanda Vaughan, Jonathon Kear, Paul Gonzales, Steven Thomas and Carol Edwards, subject to their agreement.

The first meeting would be on Tuesday 27th November at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.

Village Hall Colin Barnard has put in an application for a additional £1million. The whole scheme is planned to go before the County Council at the year end the with a start date still envisaged for 2009/2010.

The Association are still waiting for plans and reports of the school to facilitate the conversion to a new village hall.

Britain in Bloom Raglan gained a silver gilt trophy and £500 has been presented for the business award. Raglan has also been invited to enter the competition again next year.

Treasurers Report John Randel reported that at the end of August there was £1630.50 in the current account, £15,000 in the Bond and £2000in the business reserve

Fund Raising

Cinema Amanda Vaughan and Dennis Brown attended the meeting on the 10th September. There is still plenty of equipment available from the Mobile Movies. One set is based at St. Arvans and another at the One Stop Shop in Abergavenny. A large car or a small van would be needed to transport the equipment. A consortium of village halls has been set up to make use of the equipment. £4000 from the sale of the mobile movies van is available to the Consortium, possible to purchase new, more mobile equipment. To join there is an initial fee of £20 per year, with the cost of showing a film to be about £100.

Dennis Brown proposed that Raglan Village Hall and recreation Association join the consortium. This was seconded by Amanda Vaughan and agreed by the Association.

Car Boot Sales Each of the 4 organisations involved received £218.32. £50 was paid to the Sports Association for the use of the field

Raglan Day There was a short discussion on how the profile could be raised.

Father Christmas  The Father Christmas collection will be on the 17th December. Jenny Swattridge and Myrna Thomas will organise the sweets. Trevor Phillips is to contact Tony Bradley. It was felt that more publicity was needed.

After much discussion it was felt that because Jamie Farr had benefited from the collection last year, another childrens’ charity should be the recipient this year. Margaret Lawrence is to investigate.

A.O.B.

Young Footballers It was proposed that Raglan Village Hall and Recreation Association sponsor the young footballers by providing a full kit for them. This was unanimously agreed.

AGM  New officers will need to be appointed, especially a new secretary and treasurer. The date was agreed as the 19th February at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.
