welcomed members
to the meeting.
The minutes of the meeting held on the
3rd October 2006 were agreed by the committee and signed by the
chairman.
Matters Arising.
Progress Reports
M.U.G.A. It was agreed that a letter be sent to Andy Keep,
Director of Lifelong Learning and Leisure with a copy to Liz Hackett-Pain
asking for an explanation as to what has happened to the funds from Lovells
that had been designated for the project and why it has not yet been started,
never mind completed.
Village Hall The school rebuild date is set to begin in 2008
with a completion date of 2010. Ideally the village hall build should run
parallel to this. Colin Barnard will help this committee to access funding. The
principle agreed is that there should be a joint project with separate access
to the school and community buildings so that the village hall can be used by
the community during the day as well as during the evening with the architect
from the county working with the architect for the village hall. There would be
separate maintenance responsibilities for the village hall and the school, with
heating etc. being metered separately.
Visits to 2 primary schools
linked to the community Derry View and Cartref in Abergavenny, were made by
members on 22nd November. This showed how facilities could be shared
but also be used independently of each other. For example, an industrial
kitchen used for school lunches could also be used for functions in the
evening, but a catering employee would need to be present.
Llanfoist – 5 members visited Llanfoist village Hall on the 25th
October. Good design ideas were those of accessibility of toilets and changing
rooms from inside or outside the hall, a veranda leading round the hall and
hall doors opening on to the veranda in front of the games pitches. An
industrial kitchen had been installed and could be used by those hiring the
hall. Underfloor heating of the hall by hot water was regarded with suspicion
by our members.
Management
practice of the hall appeared to be working well.
Fund Raising

December. It was agreed that the collection will go to Rockwood Hospital by
Cardiff, where a number of Raglan residents are currently being treated. Jenny
is to produce the posters and she and Myrna Thomas will buy the sweets.
Raglan Music
Festival marquee

The Play has been deferred to next
year.
Repairs 2 outside lights are still
out, but county have agreed to contribute towards the cost of replacing the
hall lights.
Old School Some of the equipment has
been removed, but concerns were raised at the state in which the hall had been
left after junior activity last week.
GAVO – 3 members are to attend an ‘Access to Funding’ conference on the
evening of 6th December 2006
Village Competitions – It is hoped to enter Raglan
in to ‘Raglan in Bloom’, ‘Britain in Bloom’ and the Calor, ‘Village of the
Year’ competition in Wales.
A.O.B.
Bingo – because of falling
numbers, the Association have agreed to underwrite the hire of the hall and the
cost of the books for 3 months. In addition there will be some publicity in the
village to try to increase numbers.

was a need for a Community News Letter. A letter is to be sent to the Community
Council asking for help with funding. Jenny is to look in to producing the
first News Letter.
