Matters Arising.

Progress Reports

M.U.G.A. After the meeting on the 25th April, Andy Keep and Mike Moran were asked to give answers to 3 specific questions

1.         What is the timetable for the MUGA?

2.         What is the plan for the proposed MUGA?

3.         What are the costs involved?

A response was received on the 18th that did not adequately answer these questions.

Monmouthshire County Council is still holding £54650 that was paid to them by the householders on Ethley Drive through the developers, Lovells, in 2001 for the development of a recreation area for the village. The time limit has already been extended 3 times. The Association has now been told that there is a £9000 shortfall.

Plans for the all weather play area were not submitted until April 2007, when they were sent back as not having sufficient detail. The Association were told that the costs for the car park would not be met from this source.

Due to the delays caused by the council there is a strong possibility that this money may be lost to the village. It was proposed by Joan Barrington that ‘The Village Hall and Recreation Association apply to the Ombudsman for a speedy conclusion to enable the All weather play area to be established’

Fund Raising

Raglan Day This will be on the Bank Holiday on the 27th August. Linda Lewis guided members through the procedures for the day.(see appendix 2)

Cinema The school now has blackout facilities. Amanda to investigate the possibility of a cinema show.

Car Boot Sales 2 Have had to be cancelled due to bad weather, but £404 has been raised from the 4 sales held. The organisers on the day need to be there by 12.30 at the latest.

News Letter The first news letter has been well received. The next is due out at the beginning of July to cover July, August and September. It is hoped to include a flyer for Raglan day with this issue that will be in the shops and pubs.

Funding Grants Raglan In Bloom, with the aid of Linda Lewis, have applied for and been awarded a grant of £800 for tables and chairs for the play area from a conservation group in London. They will need a fork lift truck to position them and Rob Rennie is to be asked to cement them in.

The cheque is to be presented at 2.00pm on the 27th June. The suppliers of the furniture will be there at the same time.

Village Competitions The Calor Village of the Year judges have been to ‘Meet the Village’. If the village wins the South Wales Village of the Year, there will be celebrations in the village in July.

Wales in Bloom is to be judged between the 9th and 19th July.

Britain in Bloom is to be judged on the 1st August.

Bingo The Association agreed to continue supporting the Bingo.

A.O.B. A review has been carried out on the Old Church School. The Health and Safety report is damming. There are no fire doors, no disabled access, no toilets and the electrics will probably need replacing.

Mike Moran is coming to discuss the situation on Friday.

Three classes have been booked for the Autumn Term, Cushions, Glass Engraving and Conversational Welsh
