Report of the Proposed New Village Hall

Planning permission has finally been granted. Negotiations with the county are still on going for the lease of the land.

Raglan Village Hall and Recreation Association has been approached by the county council to collaborate with them in a joint scheme to incorporate the modification of the primary school with the building of the proposed village hall. This would attract extra funding both for the school and the village hall project.

A proposal was then put to the meeting: This Association agrees in principle to work with the County Council on a combined project for the remodelling of the primary school and the proposed new village hall. The proposal was unanimously agreed.

The all weather play area, with floodlighting, is to be funded by the money given to the village by the property developer and has to be completed by October. This still has to go to planning.

Fund Raising

Letters had been sent out to all organisations asking for ideas for fund raising.

A donation of £270 has been received from Mr. & Mrs. Morgan.

Raglan W.I. has set up a ‘Spare a Penny – or two’ collection.

Raglan Gardeners’ Association have donated £100 from their February Coffee Morning.

Raglan Day raised just over £1600.

Another Raglan Day is planned for August 28th 2006.

Community Bus Pensioners with bus passes will be able to travel free from April.

More drivers have been trained and more will be able to train in Newport. The number of routes available is increasing.

A.O.B. The licence for the community hall has still not been granted. The application was submitted in October but has still not gone to the licensing committee.

The date for the next meeting is Thursday 6th April at 8.00p.m.

The meeting closed at 8.50 p.m.
