RAGLAN VILLAGE HALL & RECREATION ASSOCIATION 2008
This year could well prove to be a turning point for Raglan Village Hall and Recreation Association. The Association was formed to look after the recreational needs of the village. It is part of its brief to fight for the re-opening of the Old Church School while keeping in mind the bigger plan for the conversion of the present infant and junior school to a new village hall once a new school has been built. Work soon will be underway on the old church school to have it re-opened. The bulk of the funding for this work will come from the County Council with the Community Council contributing significantly to the cost.
Thank you to all those organizations who have been so understanding in difficult circumstances.
Every organization in the village has an automatic right to be represented in the Raglan Village Hall and Recreation Association. Please make sure that your views are known by making sure that a representative of your organization attends the meetings of the Association. This is where the facilities that will be provided in the new hall will be decided. This is particularly relevant for young people. Now is the time to be involved!
The young footballers have recently benefited from the Association, first with a new football kit and later with the monies received from the Father Christmas tour of the village, when £280 was collected. This was topped up to £300 by the ‘Millennium Chimes’ Bell Ringers and was given to help replace some of the equipment lost in the pavilion fire in December.
The main fund raising effort towards the costs of converting the present school to a village hall is Raglan Day that is held in the summer. We need your ideas and energy.
